Now relegated to urban myth, The Discovered Man did, in fact, license The Hiding Man out to a few cheap merchandising opportunities. While most were short run, fly-by-night brands with trendy products of the time, none were as tempestuous as the pairing of TDM and Vend Boyz Inc. TDM, a famously difficult collaborator could not stand to be in the same room with Vend Boyz partners Joey and Jamie Venters, themselves branded with a reputation for being difficult and on occasion, violent. TDM, in those days, believed that vending machine stickers were the future or public or street art and invested heavily in the format and pushed ahead with the production of Hiding Man vending stickers. The first edition feature an image from the “dramatic reenactment” segment of the Griffith Park episode of Unsolved Mysteries.
